Fintech Forum – Legalink – Mexico City -7 November 2018
DF Advocates have recently participated in the Fintech Forum organized by law firm Ramos Ripoll & Schuster (Mexico City) and Sérvulo Associados (Lisbon) on the fringe of the semi-annual General Meeting of Legalink Global Network of Independent Law Firms in Mexico City (Mexico) held between the 7 and 10 November.
Focusing on the regulation of cryptocurrencies, ICOs and STOs around the world, the forum brought together experts in the field from Mexico, Portugal, Italy, Spain, the US, China, Japan, Netherlands. As the leading European jurisdiction in the regulation of cryptocurrencies, Malta was also represented by Dr Jean C. Farrugia, Senior Partner in charge of the Financial Services Practice at DF Advocates. Dr Farrugia participated on one of the panels where he talked about crypto currency and blockchain regulation in Malta as well as the structuring of ICOs and STOs. Dr Johan Farrugia, Senior Associate from the Financial Services team at DF Advocates was also present at the conference where he had the opportunity to meet and discuss with Legalink colleagues the advantages of Malta’s VFA Regime for VFA Service providers.
During the conference a new Legalink practice group focusing on Fintech was launched and convened for its first meeting. DF Advocates are amongst the founders of this practice group.
